Kathy Jean Dickison of Lexington passed away Sunday, November 12 2017, at UK Chandler Hospital. Kathy was born May 3, 1951 to the late Virgil and Nelle Dickison. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Chuck Dickison.
She is survived by her son, Bysshe Easton ( San Francisco, CA), her brother Jay Dickison,( Ashland, KY), her husband Clifford Cook ( Lexington, KY), sister in law Jeanette Dickison ( Felicity, OH), her nephews Adam Dickison ( Louisville, KY) and Hunter Dickison ( Bowling Green, KY), and her niece Lucinda Dickison ( Felicity, OH).
Kathy lived a full life, graduating from Paul Blazer High School and later the University of Kentucky with a Masters Degree in English. She taught for many years in the community college system at Maysville and Lexington where she developed curricula for multiple new courses and touched the lives of countless students before retiring in 2003 due to declining health. She loved writing poetry, of which she published many pieces, making arts and crafts, gardening, reading and listening to music. She loved and was loved by her family and was a devoted mother, daughter, sister and wife.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 from 7 to 9 at the Ashland First Church of The Nazarene 2201 Bath Ave. Ashland, Ky. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017 at 1:00pm at Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland. followed by burial at Ashland Cemetery.
