Donald Gay Tipton, 83, of Ashland, Ky died Wednesday, January 7, 2026 in Greenup County, Kentucky. He was born September 21, 1942 in Magoffin County, Ky a son of the late James Hargis and Pearl Haney Tipton. Donald was a Crane Operator for Armco Steel. He is preceded in death in addition to his parents by his six brothers and sisters Wanda Sagraves, Ernestine Whitt, Janice Tipton, Anita Arthur, James Tipton, and Hargis Junior Tipton. He is survived by his loving wife Bonnie Howard Tipton, a daughter Veronica (Scott) Catlin of Catlettsburg, Ky, a son Donald E. Tipton of Ashland, Ky, and a grandson Brent (Stephanie) Patton of Proctorville, Ohio. Per Donald’s wishes a graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2025 at 12 Noon at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Chapel by Chaplain Jimm Smedley with burial to follow. Lazear Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Tipton.

To my family, I’m so terribly sorry to hear about Donald. I always thought he was so good looking & I loved him very much. All of Mom Tipton’s kids are with her now. What a reunion!! My love & prayers to all. Carol Jo
