Thomas Lee Payne Sr., 70, of Ashland, Ky, husband of Carrie Ann Kouns Payne entered in to God’s kingdom on April 27th 2023. Tom was born February 17th 1953 in Ashland, Ky a son of the late Clarence and Edna Crace Payne. In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by two brothers John Payne and Clarence “Bubby” Payne and his twin sister Laura LeMaster. He was a member of Ashland Heights Wesleyan Church where he was involved in many church activities and he was a retired Union Carpenter out of Ashland Local 472. In addition to his loving wife of 53 years, he is survived by his children Leigh and Chris Gamble, Tommy and Noey Payne, Jeremy and Susie Payne, 11 grandchildren Cory Hatmaker, Christian Gamble, Courtney Gamble, Brayden Wilson, Baylee Payne, Haeven Payne, River Payne, Joey Payne, Declan Payne, Raegan Payne, and Gavin Payne, one great-grandchild Annabelle Hatmaker, and a group of men that were more like brothers and sons. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved fishing, his church, and spending time with family and friends. A celebration of life service will be held at Ashland Heights Wesleyan Church 2271 Sellars St, Ashland, Ky 41101 on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 at 1 pm. Lazear Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Payne.
